I look for myself;

I search relentlessly

For what can be called ‘me’.

I seek my voice in the songs of others

Scrounge for my remains

After the battles of those that surround me

I untangle every thread

To find the ribbons of my soul

In the eyes of others’, I seek

My own approval

In the words of the world

I pester one to fit me.

Me, you.

Then I stop.

I take a break from it all

I do not beget you

And neither do you, me.

All this investment in another

Who is yet to find themselves.

Life's a party in a sunflower field. Even when we wilt, we are beautiful to behold.
